TiVo Beta supports podcasting...

Neat, podcasting on TiVo - I hope it will download more content based on traffic conditions, then you sync that to your music player. David Zatz says "TiVo is beefing up their HME offerings by centrally hosting applications and partnering with Yahoo! Yahoo! weather, traffic, and photos are available by entering your account info on the TiVo box. Also being tested are Internet radio (Live365), the podcaster application I previewed at Digital Life, Fandango movie tickets, and some various games. Griffin has a nice new product hack, they tapped the USB on the iPod Shuffle and it's now both the lanyard and headphones in one - nice work "TuneBuds keep both the earbuds and shuffle handy around the wearer's neck. LG-KP4700, the mini slider fashion phone

Mobile Korea got their hands on the new LG-KP4700 mini music phone over at the APEC forum. You can use your voice to search for songs on its TransFlash memory card slot and even send messages while you’re listening. They’re aiming for the fashionable MP3 player market, and include a lanyard for use as a necklace. There is also a camera included, though we don’t know the resolution. EMI chief says iTunes prices will rise (and lower) within the year

Alan Levy, chairman of EMI Music, says there is “a common understanding” that Apple will begin to offer “differential pricing” on the iTunes Music Store within the next 12 months. You may recall that this battle became public when Steve called the labels “greedy,” warning of an increase in piracy if prices are increased. New shuffles in January, too?

We’re already getting a little tired of the what could Steve possibly introduce at Macworld in January story, but AppleInsider reports that an American Technology Research analyst has “heard” of an even smaller shuffle due for launch at the event that would also take the next logical progression for the flash player: colors. Creative's new Zen Neeon players go flash

Creative is pumping out a new line of their Zen Neeon, this time outfitted with lower capacity flash, maybe to compete with the Nano — but since they don’t offer a 4GB option and no color screens are in sight, it looks like they’ll have to wait ‘till next time to play with the big boys. EMI promises DRM compatibility with iPod, Apple disagrees

We’re really thinking that EMI and Apple need to get together more often, because CNET is reporting that EMI now is saying that their DRMed CDs, which are currently Windows only, will soon function with Apple’s iTunes and iPod players. They state that “Apple is nearly finished with the technical work necessary to enable consumers to transfer music from content-protected discs to their iPods,” which would suggest Apple knows a thing or two about this. Sony Walkman Bean reviewed

Does Sony’s tiny Walkman Bean measure up in any area other than size? CNet Asia checked out the player, and found a few good features starting with its “quirky … cute” design. The reviewer also liked the fold-out USB jack, the one-line OLED display (which is, after all, one line more than you’ll find on an iPod shuffle) and the FM receiver. We just spotted a review of Sony’s new NW-A1000 6GB Network Walkman on French site generationmp3, and besides the crappy Connect software required to load tunes, they recommend the player for all your Supreme NTM and MC Solaar listening needs. As you no doubt recall, the A1000 is both ATRAC and MP3 capable, contains some innovative features like a “similar artist” button, and comes in a small, curvy, glossy case. BenQ exiting MP3 player market?

Another one bites the dust? Unless you’re Apple, it’s apparently been a bad year for makers of MP3 players (or at least name-brand MP3 players — random Korean and Chinese companies keep popping up like crazy). Creative’s profits are down, earlier this month Olympus announced they were pulling out of the market, while both Rio and NHJ Japan went out of business altogether, now it looks like BenQ might be dropping out of the biz as well. I recently purchased Motorola ROKR iTunes Phone from a Cingular store near my home. I have been desiring this phone since I caught a press release last July about the Apple and Motorola partnership. This phone appealed to me most as runner, traveling businessman and general tech lover. As a runner I saw the phone as added security. Many iPod users, myself included, would agree that Apple’s standard earbuds are NOT all that comfortable. They are just a little too big, so you have to jam them into your ear. For a short time it’s OK, but for extended listening, they start to become very uncomfortable. I was looking at Apple’s in-ear headphones as a possible replacement, but today I bought Griffin’s EarJams. About a week ago I ordered a pair of Griffin Technology EarJams for something like $10 shipped, I got them the other day so I've been giving them a work out. I'm not a $500 for 1 AV cable audio nut, but a pair of earjams on top of my iPod earbuds made a noticeable difference. They are slightly more comfortable than the naked earbuds, and the volume is louder, and I can hear things I normally don't, but anymore than $10 and I would probably feel ripped off.
